VOLUNTEER
Volunteers are an important part of the Head Start program. They help make the program better for the children. Encourage your family members, including Dads and Grandparents, to visit. Parents may visit their child's classroom at any time without making prior arrangements. Community volunteers are also welcomed.
All volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Volunteering at the centers:
- In the classroom
- In the kitchen
- Preparing materials for teachers
- Going on field trips
- Attending a parent meeting and/or classroom activities
- Transporting your child to and from the bus/van
- Attending Policy Council meetings, center and classroom meetings
- Participating in home visits
- Spending time on a parent/child activity in the home (1 or 2 hours per week)
- Donated items (books, toys, etc....)
- Volunteering/assisting with clerical duties
- Serving on Head Start program committees
- Participating in annual Head Start Program Self-Assessment
- Participating in Head Start sponsored community events or projects
- Any other activity that helps Head Start Programs meet their goals and requirements
